Since 2019, the Sunday of the Word of God is celebrated on the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time.
St. Jerome wrote some 1600 years ago, “Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ.”
“Without the Lord who opens our minds to them, it is impossible to understand the Scriptures in depth. Yet the contrary is equally true: without the Scriptures, the events of the mission of Jesus and of his Church in this world would remain incomprehensible.”

At St. Monica parish, our hope is that all of us regularly spend more time reading and understanding the Bible and thus come to know Jesus Christ in a deeper and more personal way in and through His Church.
We invite everyone to read the Bible. But if we are going to make this a habit in our lives, we should have a plan to keep us focused and dedicated. Here are some ideas for making a plan:
