Infant Baptism for Non-Parishioners

Dear Parents,

Congratulations on the birth of your child and “Thank you” for choosing St. Monica for the Baptism. In asking to have your child baptized at St. Monica, you ask us to share in the responsibility of raising this child in the Catholic Faith. Parents are the primary teachers of the Faith. Your example and your values will be the most powerful lesson for your child. We are ready at the appropriate time to teach and administer the Sacraments of the Catholic Church and help your child to be well grounded in the essentials of the faith.

We offer Baptisms primarily on the second Sunday of the month following the 11:00 a.m. Mass. However, we will make every attempt to arrange for the sacrament when it is most convenient for you and your family. We do require that at least one of the parents be a practicing Catholic, attending weekly Sunday Mass and receiving the Sacraments. (If we are promising to raise the child in the Faith, we must be practicing ourselves.) If this is your first child, or you have not previously attended a Baptism class, we ask that you attend a short class explaining the Sacrament on the Thursday preceding the second Sunday of the month, at 7:00 p.m. in the Rectory.

Non-parishioners must obtain written permission from their pastor for their child to be baptized at St. Monica’s. On this website is a Baptism Registration Form. Please print out the form, fill in the information needed,  and return the form, the letter from your pastor and all requested certificates to St. Monica’s office at least three weeks before the date of the month you have chosen. We need a certificate for each Catholic Godparent from their parish, indicating that they have been Confirmed and attend Mass regularly.

Please begin the form at SURNAME (last name) and fill out everything requested through the last question under GODPARENTS. Please note that we require the mother’s MAIDEN name. We will complete the Miscellaneous Data.

When we receive the completed information form and the required certificates, we will call you to schedule and confirm the class date and the Baptism date. Please call if you have any questions.
